I just read through this thread for the first time. VERY FUNNY !!!
Nate, don't let the board's nanny patrol get you down. Typical of the no sense of humor crowd. Life is SERIOUS didn't you know? LOL

Sorry but Buddha's load was lighter and the spiritual waters from Buddhism quenched my thirst. But thanks for asking. I believe many roads lead to the same person. God created us to be unique......look at all the shapes, colors, and cultures we have of humans. Why would there only be one way to reach God? Why crete such uniqueness to only be obtuse when it comes to our spirituality?

Are the gospels genuine?
by ackack ini've been reading the jesus puzzle and something interesting was this re-ordering of q. its seems like the various pieces of q in luke and matthew have different contexts.
this would support that the contexts for the q sayings were invented.. it seems that paul doesn't reference the gospels in any form.. does this support a late writing for the gospels and therefore calls into question how close the gospels were written to the alleged events of jesus' life?.
how would someone who believes in the gospels reconcile these differences?

You should pick up the book of Enoch and read it. That's one of those "deleted" books of the bible...but is colorful and interesting.

what do you think?
by nicbic ini'm getting the feeling my friend is going more into her jw life and very slowly cutting me out.
i have been maintaining contact whether or not i get responses so far.
is this the right action to take?

Nic, sorry but if your friend goes back into the cult she will continue to see you less and less. It's part of the control mechinisms they use. That way for anyone to leave they must lose everything. Also, it filters any non-WTBS info that they get. You have 2 options. One let things be as they may, seeing her rarely while trying to bring up valid points when you do see her. Or two, do an intervention and explain everything that is wrong with the religion. But you may lose her as a friend as she thinks you may be trying to mislead her.
Some people just want to suffer. They feel suffering means they are working to the great good of God's glory. Tell her to become a Catholic.....twice the fun and only 1/2 the guilt. Tastes great, less filling. But I digress....maybe it will take her going back to see all the hypocrisy who knows. Maybe not. Maybe it will take her another lifetime to reach enlightenment. -

Execution in United States Are You For It?
by jayhawk1 infrom the ap.... raleigh, n.c. - a man who killed his wife and father-in-law pinned his hopes on last-minute intervention from the governor or the courts as he awaited lethal injection early friday in the nation's 1,000th execution since capital punishment resumed in 1977. kenneth lee boyd, set to die at 2 a.m., spent the day receiving visitors, including two sons who watched him gun down their mother and grandfather in 1988. .
my questions are; are you for or against the death penalty?
what was your opinion of the death penalty as a jehovah's witness?.

Taken advantage of
by Nicole24 inhi....so here's my story....i was working at a local salon, and met an older guy ( i was 18) who seemed quite fun, and we soon became friends.
he was 45 and recently divorced, and he knew i needed extra money for college so i began to clean his house.
it quickly escalated into a much deeper relationship.

Sorry this happened to you. But you will find this behavior common amongst JW's. They have set up such bizarre rules for themselves no one really can abide by them. They do this to keep mental control of the "believer". By not being able to live up to them, creates a huge guilt complex within the "believer". Once they have created this moral compartmentalization in their minds, some pretty awful behavior ensues. Classic cult technique.
Please stick around and learn about the JW's. Welcome. -
